Tricky Colours Magic
In this trick you deal one card at a time face down into two piles. One pile if your friend chooses red and another if your friend chooses black. When all the cards have been dealt, the stacks of cards are revealed and are indeed split into reds and blacks just as your friend had chosen.
A little preparation is required; put all the red cards on the top of the deck and all the black cards on the bottom. This can easily be done without arousing suspicion by counting the deck to check there are 52 cards. Indeed there must be 52 cards for this to work and all jokers must be removed.
Take three black cards from the bottom and place them face down on the top of the deck mixing them between the top three red cards. You are now ready to perform.
Start by giving the impression that you have a well mixed pack of cards. Deal the first six cards out face up in front of you, placing the reds to your right and the blacks to your left. Say out loud the colours as you do this... 1, 2, 3, 4, ,5, 6....
You should now have two piles, each of three cards in front of you. The reds on the right and the blacks on the left.
In a moment you may begin to place cards face down; on the black pile if your friend thinks its a black card and on the red pile if your friend thinks its a red card.
Note: Never let anyone see the card you are laying down and always take the cards from the top of the deck.
Now deal the next 22 cards... Place card one face down on the red or black pile (you choose), now card 2 and 3 .... 22. STOP.
We stop here to firstly keep interest in the trick and also to do a little cheat to make it near on impossible to work out how this trick is done; take the next card from the deck (it will be the last red card) and place it face up on the black pile (the pile on your right). Now take the next card (a black one) and place it face up on the red pile (the pile on your left).
Continue as before placing red choices on the red card and black choices on the black card.
Once all the cards have been laid down you can reveal that the trick has worked.
Ask your friend to check the pile to YOUR right and you show the pile to your left.
Note: You may notice that the face up cards in the pile you show are slightly out of place, but it is of course easy to disguise this as it is YOU that reveals this pile!
